This editorial is special. The next month of June begins a new life cycle for me. I enter
the fourth decade of my life and after a long journey, I feel deeply satisfied with myself. The
circle of life. Those changes that make you laugh, cry, feel that you are alive, loved, unique …
All this that makes your life richer, that makes you grow as a person, as a human being and
achieve your full development, thanks to a process that sometimes is painful, confusing. It
has its light and its shadows, but it is also constructive, because it leads us to discover the
greatness of forgiveness, the acceptance and the humility of recognizing that in the end, only
God knows our destiny.
In the same way, the nations decide their walk. Here we find ourselves, at a time when
Brexit is on the way to its concretion, when nations are convulsed in the West, when the
essence of nations moves between paths of shadows and anxieties but with glimmers of exits
towards liberation. That is where we now are. Identities, feelings of the people: We are not
economies or macroeconomic positions or deliberations; we are people who need to “feel” the
reality of the life that surrounds us, to be able to grow in harmony with beloved persons and to
feel safe in our nation. That is called populism today. Well … just like when you use the word
“Nazi” without remembering that it was the “national socialism” that caused the breaking of
the balance.
The labels are simple blocks that we put on ourselves to avoid taking costly but
necessary steps. For example, the Brexit. The United Kingdom does not agree with the
imposition of the Brussels bureaucrats and decides the separation as a resolution of the
conflict. The ineffectiveness of the lack of emotional intelligence towards their own people and
negotiations, which have been deliberated on the basis of pride and social prejudice, is what
has led the treacherous Albion to achieve a painful situation for both, unnecessary and
unproductive. Would not a restructuring of Europe’s internal dynamics have been better?
Would not it have been more coherent to recognize the errors of both sides and look for a
solution to the whole for a better progress? It is clear that Brussels has not done well as a
mediator of subsidiarity and national sovereignty, as with the original project of the European
Union that is quasi-confederal and not federal. We will have to ask ourselves what key
aspects are going to direct the internal policies of the Eastern and Mediterranean countries
and to what extent they will be able to settle in power bases in order to project a new
dimension of the European space, one where, far from merely complying with orders,
consensus is reached on a basis of real solidarity of the Member States of Europe. A new
reorganization may thus emerge that is more democratic and coherent with the sense of the
identity of the nations of Europe, a melting pot of different cultures with the same common
ethos: westernism.
LOS CICLOS DE LA VIDA: NUEVOS CAMBIOS
Esta editorial es especial. El próximo mes de Junio comienza un nuevo ciclo de vida
para mí. Entro en la cuarta década de mi vida y tras mucho recorrido, me siento
profundamente satisfecha conmigo misma. El ciclo de la vida. Esos cambios que te hacen
reir, llorar, sentir que estás viva, amar, desamar…Todo esto que hace que tu vida se
enriquezca, que crezcas como persona, como ser humano y consigas que tu desarrollo
pleno, gracias a un proceso que algunas veces, es doloroso, confuso, tiene su luz y sus
sombras pero a su vez es constructivo, porque nos lleva a descubrir la grandeza del perdón,
la aceptación y la humildad de reconocer que al final, sólo Dios sabe nuestro destino.
Del mismo modo, las naciones deciden su caminar. Aquí nos encontramos, en un
momento donde el Brexit está de camino a su concreción, donde las naciones están
convulsas en Occidente, donde la esencia de las naciones se mueve entre caminos de
sombras y zozobras pero con atisbos de salidas hacia la liberación. Eso somos. Identidades,
sentir de los pueblos, personas…no somos economía ni posiciones ni deliberaciones
macroeconómicas, somos personas que necesitamos “sentir” la realidad de la vida que nos
rodea, poder crecer en armonía con la persona amada y poder sentirnos seguros en nuestra
nación. Eso es llamado hoy populismo. Bueno…al igual que cuando se usa la palabra nazi
sin recordar que fue el “nazional socialismo” el que provocó la ruptura del equilibrio.
Las etiquetas son simples bloqueos que nos ponemos a nosotros mismos para evitar
dar pasos costosos pero necesarios. Por ejemplo, el Brexit. Reino Unido no está de acuerdo
con la imposición de los burócratas de Bruselas y decide la separación como resolución del
conflicto. La inoperancia de la escasa inteligencia emocional hacia su propio pueblo y hacia
las negociaciones, que se han deliberado a base de orgullo y prejuicio social, es lo que ha
llevado a la pérfida Albión a conseguir una situación dolorosa para ambos, innecesaria e
improductiva. No hubiese sido mejor una reestructuración de las dinámicas internas de
Europa?
No hubiese sido más coherente reconocer los errores de ambos lados y buscar una
solución al conjunto para un progreso mejor? Es evidente que Bruselas no ha hecho bien su
gestión de mediadora de la subsidiariedad y la soberanía nacional como es el proyecto
primigenio de la Unión Europea que es cuasi confederal y no federal. Habrá que preguntarse
qué aspectos clave van a dirigir las políticas internas de los países del Este y Mediterráneos
y hasta qué punto se van a conseguir asentar en bases de poder para poder proyectar una
nueva dimensión del espacio europeo donde lejos de acatar órdenes, se consensúe en base
a una real solidaridad de los Estados Miembros de Europa y se acierte en una nueva
reorganización más democrática y coherente con el sentir de la identidad de las naciones de
Europa, un crisol de diferentes culturas con un mismo ethos común: la occidentalidad.
